Prince Hall was a Freemason, patriot, abolitionist, and prominent leader of Boston’s Black community during the American Revolution. He repeatedly petitioned the Massachusetts legislature to abolish slavery, protect the rights of Black Americans, and provide educational opportunities for Black children.
