In 1802 after her husband Daniel’s death, Elizabeth Reed and her step-son Daniel wrote up a contract called an Indenture of Lease. The contract leased 25 acres of land to Daniel, including the farm and barn. The contract stated that Elizabeth Reed was to have the house to herself during the remainder of her life.
